The Area

A city full of proud people, Stoke-on-Trent is a city moving forward. Come and experience a new chapter in our city’s remarkable story.

Stoke-on-Trent is a city built on a history of industrial greatness and creative artistic flair. We’ve seen a resurgence of all things that made the city great. From pottery to performing arts and everything in between, we’re home to world-class museums, outstanding visitor centres, glorious gardens, fantastic factory tours, creative hands-on opportunities... we have it all!

Just a few of our attractions include:

  • Potteries Museum and Art Gallery
  • Gladstone Pottery Museum
  • World of Wedgwood
  • Trentham Estate – including the UK’s only monkey forest!
  • Emma Bridgewater Factory
  • Green Flag awarded local parks
  • Middleport Pottery

As a city we are ambitious to grow, building on our industrial heritage, creating new communities, creating new jobs, attracting new businesses and investment. Over 1,000 new homes have been delivered in the city in 2019, 97% of which were developed on brownfield sites, we have a capital investment programme of over £700m, and in 2020 we agreed a 10-year masterplan for the city which includes a 10-acre East-West development site in the city centre – the largest site of its kind in the region, with exciting opportunities for a new hotel, new housing and a public transport hub. With our Powering Up agenda firmly placed to secure partnership and investment, setting out how we will work at pace with our regional partners to drive through a single set of priorities and interventions to regain the momentum beyond the Covid-19 pandemic.
